Union League Philadelphia

Union League Wedding Videographer

The Union League, a Philadelphia Wedding Venue

The Union League was originally a patriotic society to support the Union during Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. In time, it developed into the United States’ number one City Club. The Union League takes up an entire city block in historic Philadelphia. Inside, rediscover the history of Philadelphia and its timeless architecture.

Union League Philadelphia WeddingEven if you are not a history buff, the Union League is tremendous on its own. The high, intricately designed ceilings will impress as soon as you walk in. Large arched windows line the walls while brilliant chandeliers dangle overhead. With so many beautiful features, you barely need to decorate.

Inside and out, photo opportunities await. Outside, pose with City Hall as the background for a breathtaking photo on Broad Street. In front of the Union League, the spiral staircase makes for great group and grand entrance photos.

Lincoln Hall

Union League Lincoln HallInside, the Union league boasts fourteen rooms with event space. The most popular, however, is the Lincoln Hall. This stunning room  houses portraits of all previous Union League presidents. 100 years of portrait history hangs in the room. The portraits were also primarily painted by Philadelphia artists, adding to the site’s authentic Philadelphia charm. The most eye-catching piece of the hall, however, is the grand chandelier. Formerly a gas chandelier, the light fixture is originally from 1881! In 1911, the league updated it to an electric chandelier. The intricate details create an ornate beauty that you and your guests will drop your jaws at. There is nothing quite like it in any other Philadelphia wedding venue.

Meade Room

Union League Wedding Another popular room is the Meade Room. Before becoming the charming ballroom it is today, the Meade Room was once a pool room. While you won’t find any billiards tables in the room now, the architecture still stands. Wood-paneled walls and bronze chandeliers create a warm space for a wedding. The fireplace and intricate architecture ease the need for decor. For couples looking for a slightly smaller space than the Lincoln Room, the Meade Room is a perfect choice.
